Anyone remember these?

Postby jackanddaisy » Mon Jan 11, 2010 9:20 pm

I'm going back some years now to when i was about 3 or 4 (Early 1980's), but does anyone remember the Hard Luck Bears Show? They were situated round abouts where the Globe theatre is, right next to an old ride called the Ranger. Only reason i ask is last July, me & the missus took our son Jack to Gullivers land in Milton Keynes for his birthday, only to find that the Hard Luck Bears are now there & they are the exact same ones. Really did take me back because I used to love them, as my son did when we saw them @ Gullivers. I've copied in a link which shows the bears ripping up the rug

Cant say I remember jackanddaisy. Mind you I'd have a hard job remembering whether I even locked the car door getting home from work tonight !

I'm sure one of our older Blackpool residents (looking at you Mr Mowbray !!) will remember :8

Now thats taking me back a bit !! I don't think these are the exact same bears (but you can see the originals on youtube. After being at Blackpool for a few years with the original American programme and soundtrack, then with a specially written soundtrack for Blackpool they were moved to Frontierland in Morcambe where they did'nt last long unfortunatly, then I believe they went back to USA to Knobels (I think). There is one surviving bear still on park and in full working order, Does anyone know where? I will tell later. This remaining bear was situated at groung floor level and used to do Promo shows about every 10-15 mins to draw people into "The Palladium" theatre which was where the main show was situated. The theatre is still there and prior to the automated bear show used to do live entertainment.

my thats going back a bit, if im correct the entrance was the door just round the corner from the toilets which now leads to the globe, there was a window display for it as well.It was family orientated but with the animatronics it also had a limited life within the park
